Tour Description
The Amalfi Coast is a collection of beauties, a 50 km stretch of coastline connecting Salerno to Sorrento and twisting and turning among sumptuous villas, terraced vineyard, and lemon groves overlooking the sea. With its towns and coastline overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Amalfi Coast is a timelessly beautiful corner of Italy.
Be charmed by the unique scenery of Positano, known as the vertical city for its narrow, picturesque streets and its houses clinging to steep slopes. In the square stands the Parish Church of S. Maria Assunta, easily identified by its majestic majolica-covered dome and separate bell tower, which features a medieval bas-relief depicting sea creatures and a fox.
The heart of the ancient maritime town of Amalfi is the Romanic Cathedral of Sant’ Andrea which holds treasures from different eras. The marvellous bronze front door, very ancient and well preserved, is a true work of art and skilled craftsmanship. The historic centre is a labyrinth of narrow streets and stairways which suddenly opens up onto the sea.
Behind the coast we find the noble village of Ravello, rich in churches and palaces, which offers amazing views such as those that can be admired from the Infinity Terrace at Villa Cimbrone and from the lush gardens of Villa Rufolo with its pines, cypresses, plants and exotic flowers.
